WHAT HAPPENS AT A TYPICAL BURPEE'S SHOW?

​

At a typical Burpee's show, you will get to experience a series of Short Form comedy games. Each game relies on a set of simple rules, input from the audience, and some creative thinking, as we will perform one or more short scenes on the spot and without a script. A few of our shows are Long Form comedy, where we'll simply take a one word/phrase input from the audience and craft a much longer scene (think 10+ minutes) around it-- again, on the spot and without a script.

WHEN ARE BURPEE'S SHOWS?

​

We try to perform at least one show a month and will typically start advertising the details two weeks in advance. Each public show is approximately an hour long, except for our 24 Hour Show (it's 24 straight hours of improv) and our Out With the Old, In With the New show, which runs for around two hours. Residence Hall/Quad shows are typically 30-45 minutes. If you wish to hire us, you can also request any amount of time you'd like us to perform.

WHERE ARE BURPEE'S SHOWS?

​

We perform in a variety of venues on Denison University's campus, most notably Slayter Auditorium, Herrick Hall, and The Nest. We have also held shows in the common rooms of residence halls, near the Denison University Cementary for our Halloween Show, in Knobel Hall for professional events, and at countless schools, libraries, and arts organizations in Licking County and the surrounding Columbus area.

HOW MUCH IS ADMISSION TO BURPEE'S?

​

Burpee's shows have always been and will always be FREE! However, if you ever wish to make a donation to our group, since we are completely independent from Denison funding, please contact us. You can also make donations during our 24 Hour Show, where each year we pick a new charity/cause to donate the money to.

ARE THE SHOWS AND MATERIAL APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN?

​

Yes-- Burpee's Seedy Theatrical Company is a family friendly organization and puts on shows the whole family can enjoy, unless specifically stated otherwise in advanced (our Halloween Show is our only R-rated show of the year, appropriate for ages 16+.) Our company performs for schools and works with children all the time.

HOW CAN I GET THE BURPEES TO COME TO MY EVENT?
 
Burpee's Seedy Theatrical Company is perfect for business, social, school and church events. We teach improv classes to all ages as well as lead teamwork/ team building skills workshops. We can also be hired as actors or characters. See our Hire Us page for more information.

I'M FUNNY TOO. HOW CAN I BE A MEMBER OF BURPEE'S SEEDY THEATRICAL COMPANY?

We hold auditions once a year during a single weekend in January or February. Only Denison First Years and Transfer Sophomores are eligible to audition. Details surrounding auditions are typically posted around Denison University as well as on our website, by email, and by social media during the month of December.
